NAME: Malcolm Meryln

CANON: DCTV

CANON POINT: Legends of Tomorrow Episode: “Legion of Doom”

ARRIVAL TYPE: Accidental.

IC USERNAME: [personal profile] welldressedevil

HISTORY:
Malcolm comes from Starling City where he once ran his own transport company Merlyn Global and moved in the upper echelons of Starling City society. He was a loving father and husband, but the city didn’t care. Starling City is a place corrupted by greed, crime and people willing to turn a blind eye to its dark corners and the people who ruled over them. Malcolm was once one of those people who turned away from the city’s darkness until its evil found him and forced him to see Starling for the corrupted place it truly was.

Rebecca Merlyn was the innocent victim whose murder opened her husband’s eyes to the truth. Shot by a mugger while walking in a section of the city called the Glades late one night, Rebecca called her husband and begged him for help as she lay dying on the ground. Malcolm later learned several witnesses had seen his wife’s murder and done nothing to help choosing to save their own lives over hers. He attempted to track down his wife’s murderer himself and just barely managed to kill the man with a well placed bullet while the criminal attempted to beat Malcolm to death. He will later learn the man he killed was a scapegoat for the true murderer Daniel Brick, whose life Malcolm will then spare at the request of his reluctant allies at the time.

Malcolm realized that killing his wife’s murderer did nothing to ease his anger and grief. He blamed the city itself for her death and decided it needed to be cleansed of the criminal element. He also knew he wasn’t yet strong enough to bring his plans to fruition, but he knew of a man who could teach him to channel his anger into death. Turning his back on his young son Tommy, Malcolm followed rumor and legend to Nanda Parbat, the home of Ra’s Al Ghul and the League of Assassins.

For twenty years, Malcolm trained and fought becoming Ra’s right hand, but his goal was never far from his mind, and he conceived of a machine that would pull the Glades apart allowing him to rebuild it in his own image. His ability to think and plan himself out of any difficult situation earned him the nickname “Al Sāḥir[” or “The Magician.” And when he wished to return to Starling, Ra’s released him with the understanding that he would follow the League’s oath in everything he did.

Malcolm returned to Starling an angry and distant man who used his former friends as pawns in his great undertaking. He slept with Moira Queen to gain her trust, which resulted in a daughter, willingly murdered her husband and his best friend when his plans were threatened and turned his back on the League the second they stopped being useful to him. He doesn’t even care his own son dies in the aftermath of his plan to wipe the Glades clean and rebuild even though he claims later Tommy’s death shattered his soul.

The only one able to stop Malcolm was Oliver Queen, Robert’s son, who was caught in Malcolm’s murder plot and survived for five years. He returned to Starling wanting to make up for his father’s mistakes and he and Malcolm clashed several times discovering that they balance each other in both fighting styles and temperament. Oliver barely manages to defeat Malcolm, but Malcolm manages to both destroy part of the Glades and fake his own death by easily out maneuvering Oliver.

For a year, Malcolm manages to hide from justice until he discovers the truth about Thea Queen and he realizes the blood debt the League has now placed on his head will also affect his only living child. He once again becomes the master manipulator using Thea to murder Sara Lance without Thea’s knowledge. This brings the League down hard on Malcolm, but he uses his family connection to Oliver to claim his innocence and ask for protection from his enemy, which Oliver begrudgingly gives him.

The truth is revealed soon enough, however, and Malcolm blackmails Oliver into a trial by combat with Ra’s which the younger archer does not supposedly survive. Thea too learns the truth about her biological father after her half-brother returns from death. While Oliver realizes they need Malcolm in order to defeat Ra’s, Thea does not see any value in Malcolm and confesses the truth to Ra’s daughter Nyssa assisting the Heir to the Demon in capturing Malcolm and sending him back to Nanda Parbat to face justice.

Realizing he needed Malcolm to defeat Ra’s, Oliver mounts a rescue missions, which succeeds and he and Malcolm cook up a plan to get Oliver into the League using his new position to defeat Ra’s from within. Before they can enact their version of the plan, Ra’s stabs Thea and forces Oliver to accept becoming his heir in return for healing Thea using the Lazarus Pit. Oliver agrees and he and Malcolm adjust their original plans and with the help of the rest of Team Arrow to defeat Ra’s.

Malcolm then receives the Demon’s Head Ring and rises to the position of Ra’s Al Ghul much to the distaste of Nyssa Al Ghul. Throughout the next year, Malcolm pops in and out of the lives of both Team Arrow and Team Flash offering advice and causing behind the scenes mayhem. He spends most of the year assisting Oliver in fighting Damian Darhk and keeping Nyssa locked up for fighting against him.

When Nyssa escapes, she goes to Oliver and asks for his help in unseating Malcolm and Oliver goes to Malcolm to warn him. Malcolm agrees to a trial by combat if Oliver will help heal Thea from the bloodlust that is now killing her by allowing Nyssa show him were the cure is hidden. During the trial Malcolm throws the fight and appears to bow to Oliver and Nyssa. Oliver, however, goes one step further and takes Malcolm’s right hand.

Nyssa then pours salt in the wound by disbanding the League and Malcolm sees no other option but to join with Darhk in an effort to protect Thea from Darhk’s plans to wipe the city clean. That plan fails and during a major battle, Damian is killed by Oliver leaving Malcolm to vanish into the night directionless and furious.

Six months later, Eobard Thawne and a younger Darhk appear in Malcolm’s bolt hole and offer him a chance to change his fate. Help them gain the Spear of Destiny and he can rewrite his reality any way he wants. Malcolm agrees, helping to out maneuver the Waverider team in 1920’s Chicago, kidnap Rip Hunter in front of George Lucas and rewrite Hunter’s memories to turn him against the team.

While he clashes often with Thawne, he learns to respect the speedster and demands that both he and Damian act as equals to Thawne. The two men even help the Reverse Flash escape from the Black Flash before the three men vanish into time to continue their hunt for the Spear.

PERSONALITY:

The best word to describe Malcolm Merlyn’s personality is duplicitous. He can be everyone's best friend in one moment and then turn around and stab his so called friend or family in the back in the next breath. He is forceful, cold and focused on his needs at the expense of his family. He doesn't care who he has to step on to bring his plans to fruition.

While Malcolm sees this as his greatest strength it is actually his biggest flaw. Because Malcolm is so willing to use his loved ones as pawns in his plans, they then turn their backs on him and refuse to believe any of his warnings or advice even though his advice most often turns out to be right. He doesn't give up, however, warning people he cares about over and over again when they are going

While Malcolm believes his anger gives him strength and focus it also has turned him into a cold seemingly soulless man who willingly killed over 600 innocent people without blinking an eye. He also turned a trained killer on his daughter and her half-brother and called it training, drugged that same daughter into becoming a murderer herself and made no apologies for any of it. He never considered himself in the wrong and seems offended when other people called him on this.

That is not to say Malcolm doesn't feel at all. Death of any kind affects him on a visceral level. He cannot speak of his son Tommy without freezing and when his hope that Oliver would win against Ra's failed, he wept for the young man who was like a second son to him. He also appears to take every cruel word said about him to heart when he is alone.

Malcolm is also very loyal to his allies. If someone asks him for help he will give it, though not without a price. He doesn't believe in getting something for nothing. He has a very skewed world view, seeing love and any other positive emotion as a weakness, when he is actually much stronger if he fights to protect rather than to use someone.

Malcolm's greatest strength is his bravery. He willingly walks into situations where he knows he will most likely die. He also isn't afraid to tell people what he thinks of a given situation. Nothing is off limits to him and he'll do what needs to be done to save his own life and the lives of the people he cares about. Another of his strengths is being able to stand back and let someone else take charge when the situation calls for it. He also is willing to make alliances with people who hate him in order to keep him safe.

INVENTORY:

Malcolm will be coming in wearing his Dark Archer outfit and carrying his bow and a full quiver of arrows. He will also have knives hidden in his boots.

History:

Malcolm Meryln’s real name is Arthur King and not much is known about his early history. At 19 he joined the Air Force Academy and graduated with honors. He was never given the chance to serve as a group called the Hidden recruited him to work closely with them finding and protecting mystical artifacts from the League of Assassins. Malcolm/Arthur used the opportunity to steal one of the artifacts the Hidden was protecting and flee back to his home base of Starling City. He sold the artifact for a decent amount of cash and used the money to start his own transport company Merlyn Global.

Malcolm then changed his name so he could move and in the upper echelons of Starling City society and hide from the enemies he’d made. He met his future wife Rebecca not long after coming to Starling and they married, but the city wasn’t going to allow them to be happy for long. Starling City was a place corrupted by greed, crime and full of people willing to turn a blind eye to its dark corners and the people who ruled over them. Malcolm was once one of those people who turned away from the city’s darkness until its evil found him and forced him to see Starling for the corrupted place it truly was.

The only one able to stop Malcolm was Oliver Queen, Robert’s son, who was caught in Malcolm’s murder plot and survived for five years on a somewhat deserted island. He returned to Starling wanting to make up for his father’s mistakes and he and Malcolm clashed several times discovering that they balanced each other in both fighting styles and temperament. Oliver barely manages to defeat Malcolm, but Malcolm manages to both destroy part of the Glades and fake his own death by easily out maneuvering Oliver.

Malcolm's involvement in these events has stripped away more of his cold and distant nature to reveal his more emotional side. However, because he is such a masterful liar and has easily concealed both himself and his plans from those he claims to love, Malcolm finds himself often on the outside looking in when it comes to actually being part of a family again. He claims this does not bother him that he is more interested in saving his own neck then those of his allies.

Does your character have any close ties to existing canon characters? (Canon OCs and AUs only.)

Malcolm’s main connection is Thea Queen who is his daughter and the player is aware I wish to bring Malcolm into the game.

Why do you think your character would work in this setting?

Malcolm accepted Eli’s offer because at the time he was hanging from his wrists over a bed of hot coals and bleeding to death. So coming to a town in the middle of a nowhere planet was better than preparing to die. Once he arrives, however, Malcolm will see this as a second chance and use it to his full advantage signing in under his real name of Arthur King rather than using the name he has chosen for over twenty years.
While Malcolm is used to having people do things for him, he also isn’t above getting his hands dirty when he needs to and he will happily throw himself into work without much complaining. He see this as another opportunity to start from the bottom up only he’ll try going straight for his daughter’s sake if nothing else.

How do you plan to expand their CR?

Malcolm is all about being social and planning how to make the best kind of friend aka, people he can use to his own ends. However, he knows those who know him well will be in town and so he’ll assume at first people will have heard all about him and so he will be hesitant to approach anyone at first. Once someone makes the first move, Malcolm/Arthur will happily start making friends again.

What will your character do for work?
Malcolm would be very good at welcoming people into New Dodge and so I’m hoping he’d be able to become the last Customs Clerk.

Inventory:

He won’t be bringing anything with him but the ragged clothes on his back and a ton of injuries that will need clinic time.

Third-Person Sample:

Malcolm knew he was dead from the moment Thea turned him over to Nyssa for justice. He was out of plans, out of time and he couldn’t have been prouder of his daughter. Most other parents would have been furious, but Malcolm knew well how the world worked and knew only the strong and the willing survived in its darkness. He’d promised to train strength into Thea and he’d done it at the cost of his own life.

But he wasn’t going to give Ra’s the satisfaction of dying properly. He would show no weakness, make no sound as his feet burned and the pain rose. He would prove to those in the League that he was still their brother and that he could die with honor even though he didn’t always act as though he had any. Suddenly one of the shadows detracted itself from the wall and became a man. For a moment, Malcolm thought he was in the dream state before death, but then the man spoke and Malcolm knew it wasn’t a dream.

It was Fate offering her magician yet another chance at life and mistakes aside, Malcolm Meryln wasn’t about to turn down anything she might be offering, Life in any form was more desirable then even dying with honor would be. And he was more than willing to live. The man spoke in a low voice, his tone calm and even. “I have an offer for you,” he said and Malcolm managed a wet chuckle and a painful shrug of his shoulders.

“As long as it has nothing to do with time shares I’m in,” he joked, “doesn’t matter where you might be going or what you might want me to do.” The man nodded as if he’d been expecting this and Malcolm felt hope flare in his heart. The Magician was going to live to make another plan and he was ready for the adventure that plan might bring.

First-Person Sample:

My Dearest Rebecca,

I know writing to you makes very little sense given that you’ve been gone for over 20 years now, but you are the only one I care to write to, so here we are.

I’m leaving Starling City…. for good this time. I can hear you in my head asking why and it was long past time my love. You’re gone, Tommy is gone and Thea has chosen, wisely I might add, her half-brother over me. So there is nothing to hold me here and its time to admit that.

I’m glad for the years you and I had together. You made me better then I’d ever thought I could be and I will never forgive myself for the way I let you down. You should have survived; Tommy should have survived. But in both cases I let my work and my pain get in the way of my family and you both were lost because of it.

Where I am going I hope I can make things right. I’ve most likely burned through all my second chances and eight other lives, but I have to try. I hope where ever you and Tommy are, that you will look down on me from time to time and cheer me on. And maybe someday we will be together again for good or ill.

Never forget how much I loved you.

Yours,

Malcolm

Malcolm didn't have time to process the TARDIS before it was moving with Jack's help. Malcolm collapsed to the ground and buried his head in his hands. Team Arrow was dead....Thea was dead.Yet another of Malcolm's loved ones was gone and he had lived. He was torn between rage and the deepest grief he had ever known.  He had no idea what they were going to do now. Where could they even dream of going now.
welldressedevil: (Black Arrow)
Starling City was quiet and that unsettled the man known as the Archer, or the Arrow or whatever the newspapers were calling him this week. Malcolm didn't frankly care about the publicity. All he cared about was was cleansing the poison from the city that had taken his wife from him and forced Malcolm himself to seek out refuge halfway around the world when he realized that he didn't have the training to do this alone. He'd returned after ten years to a son who barely knew him, friends who had accepted Starling the way it was and a populace that was beyond apathetic.

A lesser man would have given up, or at the worst found a way to burn the city down to the ground and start over. But Malcolm was bound to an oath that could kill both himself and his family if he broke it, so he had to cleanse this place one criminal at a time.  He was about to leap off the roof where he was settled when a noise behind him made him spin, his loaded bow snapping up ready to fire the second he scented danger. "Show yourself," he growled, the voice changer in his hood making his voice deep and rough, "or this arrow will enter your eye before you can even blink."

Malcolm is a highly trained assassin. The only thing he will not do is rape anyone for any reason, he is respectful of peoplein that regard. Otherwise anything else is fair game. If you aren't sure about how he would react to something comment here and ask.

〈 CHARACTER SAMPLES 〉

COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:

[The video turns on to reveal Malcolm who is giving the camera an what appears to be a charming smile. He is sharply dressed in a suit with crisp lines and no creases. He looks like he could easily reach out and shake an offered hand if the camera wasn't in front of him.]

Good morning ladies and gentleman. My name is Malcolm Meryln, former CEO of Meryln Global. I know a lot of you have heard things about me that make me out to be a liar and a thief and dare I say it a murderer. I will admit I've done some things I have not proud of, but what business man hasn't?

[Malcolm gives the camera another slight smile that is harder and more dangerous as cracks of Malcolm's real personality appear from behind the charming mask, but as soon as the dangerous smile appears it is gone and the charm is  fully back in place.]

Running my own company has allowed me to see the masks people wear and look beyond them to get what I need from them. It may come across as manipulative and dishonest to some, but if it gets the job done who would judge me for that.  I ask that people give me the benefit of the doubt as we get to know each other, but if you chose not to do that I won't be upset everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I only hope that through my words and actions I can change those minds that don't trust me.

LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE:

Malcolm crouched on a roof top and watched his quarry with a slight smile on his face.  Every since coming to this universe he had felt unsettled and that was a feeling he hated.  Malcolm enjoyed being in control and being five steps ahead of everyone else and this…..place had taken that away from him. But for a man with his tactical skills and combat abilities there was always a way to make some money and he had quickly found someone who needed him.

It was a simple job, kill a business partner and make it look like an accident. Malcolm had been pulling jobs like this one since he’d first joined the League. He pulled back his bow string and took a deep breath as his mind calmed and focused on the task at hand. The arrow was released without a sound and Malcolm watched it fly through the air, his smile growing as it found its mark and the nameless man dropped to the ground.

With a soft whoosh, Malcolm jumped off the building and used his grappling hook to ease himself to the ground. He waited a moment to make sure he hadn’t been seen and then walked over to his mark, pulling the arrow loose with a squish.  He frowned for a moment, he missed the challenge of fighting against someone like Oliver, someone who could somewhat out think him and who could put up a real fight.

Looking at the arrow in his hand, Malcolm felt his smile return as an idea crossed his mind.  He replaced the arrow and glanced around again. His client wouldn’t be happy Malcolm hadn’t followed the rules of the job, but the assassin didn’t care. It was time for the heroes of this world to know there was a new danger in town and he was interested in saying hello.

With another smile at his victim, Malcolm let the shadows swallow him whole. The Magician was here and he was ready to play. Which hero would be the first to heed the call?

Character Information

Character Name: Malcolm Meryln

Canon: Arrow

Canon Point: 3X15 Nanda Parbat

Character Journal: welldressedevil

Appearance:

Malcolm is an even six feet with dark brown hair and bright blue eyes. He carries himself well knowing he has a mission in the world and what he has to do, he never slouches or slumps while sitting and always looks anyone he is speaking to in the eye.  When in business mode, Malcolm wears well tailored suits with sharp lines and well shined shoes.

When conducting missions for the League or his own plans, Malcolm's appearance changes. His armor is black leather with a huge hood that covers his face. He slouches more often, because it is easier to sneak from place to place if you look like a tiny shadow. His fighting style is very much  smash and grab when he isn't hiding and shooting people long range.

Age: 48 years old

History:

Malcolm Nikos Meryln was  born the only child of Edric and Kaia Meryln, From an early age Malcolm  knew he was going to be one of the richest people in Starling City and hated the very idea of lording over people. However, both his partents made it clear, he did not get a choice in the matter. He would take over the family company or be disowned. This did not please Malcolm in the slightest and his answer was to become a playboy using his family money to party heavily with his best friend Robert Queen, whose family was also Starling City royalty.

His father was a cold man who spent more time with his mistresses and his business partners then with his wife and son. Kaia did her best to teach Malcolm right from wrong, but Malcolm considered his mother weak and overly willing to let his father do whatever he wanted. The more Malcolm rebelled the the more his father tried to reign him in and his mother stood back and watched it happen. Malcolm finally realized that he couldn't fight his fathers desires and became as closed off and cold as Edric, taking his place as head of Merlyn Global when he was 21.

Malcom kept up his playboy ways even as Robert settled down and married his wife Moira. Malcolm supported Robert's choices and became a good friend to them both. At 25, Malcolm met Rebecca Most, a pretty young woman from the Glades. It was love at first sight for them both, but Malcolm's parents did not approve of the match. Malcolm stood up to his father for the first time in a long time and said he would marry Rebecca with our without his parents permission. Edric backed down realizing Malcolm was now the type of man who could both lead a company and a family without flinching.

Malcolm and Rebecca married when he was 26 and she was 23. Moira Queen then took the young woman under her wing teaching her how to navigate Starling City society and the couple's friendship deepened over time even as Starling City itself began to suffer from corruption and crime. Malcolm and Rebecca were blessed with a son they named Tommy around the same time the Queen's welcomed a son named Oliver. The two boys would grow up side by side and consider themselves best friends.

In an effort to combat poverty and poor health in the neighborhood she had once called home, Rebecca started a free clinic and a foundation to support it using start up money from Malcolm and Meryln Global. Malcolm did worry about Rebecca's safety but Rebecca laughed off his concerns continuing to volunteer there as Tommy grew older. Malcolm was proud of the work his wife did even as he worried about her.

When Tommy was ten, life changed for the Meryln family. Malcolm came home from a late night at work to discover Rebecca gone. Tommy told him his mother had gone to the clinic to take care of a frightened client and had left him home alone. Malcolm didn't worry as Rebecca had done this before. Later that night, the police informed Malcolm his wife had been murdered by an unknown man on her way home over her wallet.  Drowning in grief, Malcolm then discovered a voicemail on his phone from Rebecca as she lay dying begging for his help. He carries the guilt of his inaction to this day.

Using what resources he had access to at the time, Malcolm went after the young man he believed had murdered Rebecca and barely managed to kill him without getting hurt himself. Realizing how that the city he loved had become corrupt enough that people would walk past a dying woman without stopping to help, Malcolm decided to find someone who would train him to save his city from itself.

Rumor and legend carried him to Nanda Parbat where he swore an oath of loyalty to Ra's Al Ghul, the Demon's Head and leader of the League of Assassins. For the next decade or so, Malcolm was trained and sent on missions to kill those who had gone against the League. His cleverness and strategy  as well as his ability to some how magically get out of any situation earned him the nickname "Al Sahir" or "The Magician" by Nyssa Al Ghul, Ra's daughter and heir.

Malcolm returned to Starling City and took back control of his company from it's board of directors and tried to pick up where he left off with Tommy. Tommy, however, was angry that his father abandoned him and from the moment Malcolm returned their relationship was cold, stormy and angry until Tommy's death. Malcolm turned to Moira Queen for solace. Their affair was brief, but resulted in a child Thea Queen though Malcolm didn't learn this for many years.

His mind was focused on his great "Undertaking" a plan that would level the Glades and allow Malcolm and others to buy up the real estate and rebuild everything from the ground up. The Queen's joined Malcolm in his quest and Queen Consolidated designed and built a pair of earthquake machines to level the neighborhood, including killing the people who lived there. Robert, however, doubted the wisdom of the plan and confronted Malcolm begging him to stop.

Malcolm's response was to convince Robert to take a trip on his yacht the Queen's Gambit during which a planted bomb went off and sank the ship with Robert on board. What Malcolm didn't know was that Oliver had snuck onto the ship to be with his girlfriend Sara. Malcolm made a good show of mourning his lost friend but he forced Moira to continue with the Undertaking.

Five years after the Queen's  Gambit went down, Oliver Queen returned to Starling City alive and well. Malcolm did everything thing he could to find out what Robert told his son. At the same time, a vigilante called the Hood began confronting people associated with the Undertaking and trying to stop the people of the Glades from getting hurt. Malcolm attacked the Hood twice, nearly killing him both times and learning that Oliver Queen was the Hood.

Even though Malcolm was horrified what his actions had turned Oliver into, he refused to stop the Undertaking and the two men confronted each other. The fight was long, brutal and Malcolm almost won but Oliver stabbed Malcolm in the heart believing the older man had died as the second earthquake device was set off killing 542 people. Malcolm, however, survived the attack and faked his death using switched bodies and willing accomplices.

He left Starling City prepared to live his life on the run when information passed to him by a spy revealed Thea Queen's true parentage. Malcolm confronted Moira and she threaten to reveal his whereabouts to Ra's. Only Moira's death at the hands of Slade Wilson stopped this from happening and Malcolm returned to Starling to save his daughter and convince her to train with him.

He took Thea to his safe house in Corto Maltese and trained her in the ways of the League gaining her trust and love. He used that trust to murder Sara Lance, who had come to Starling City to find Malcolm and bring him back to Nanda Parbat. Oliver learned all this but agreed to keep it secret if Malcolm would train him to face Ra's and win. Thea also discovered her father's plans and at first joined the training sessions until Malcolm sent Oliver and Thea to face Slade Wilson without telling them.

Thea became furious with her father's lies and contacted the League revealing Malcolm's location to them. Nyssa was then sent to bring Malcolm back to Ra's to face the immortal's justice.

[Because canon has revealed little about Malcolm's early years including his ethnic background the top set of paragraphs are all my head canon. His canon background came from here: http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Malcolm_Merlyn_(Arrow) with some adjustments to fit the headcanon into it.]

Personality:

The best word to describe Malcolm Meryln's personality is duplicitous.

He also turned a trained killer on his daughter and her half brother and called it training, drugged that same daughter into becoming a murderer herself and made no apologies for any of it.

Nothing is of limits to him and he'll do what needs to be done to save his own life and the lives of the people he cares about. Another strength is being able to stand back and let someone else take charge when the situation calls for it. He also is willing to make alliances with people who hate him in order to keep himself safe.

Powers/Special Abilities:

Advanced archery
-Advanced hand to hand combat
-Stealth
- Advanced tactical analysis
- Deception

River Power:

The river will gift Malcolm with the abilities of water elemental. This will allow him to bend water to his will no matter the form as he trains and learns what the river has given him.

Reason for Character Choice:

I love playing Malcolm, because he is a complex character with many different layers to him. Peeling back each of those layers allows me to put my own spin on the character. Also because the show hasn’t explaining of Malcolm’s background beyond his wife’s death and his villainous plans regarding revenge for her death, playing him has allowed me to explore his background in my own way and try to figure out where his willingness to act so cold to others may have come from.

First-Person Transmission Sample:

[A man appears on camera dressed in black studded leather armor. A matching quiver full of  black arrows and a bow are slung over his back and the expression on his face is a mixture of angry and a touch of amusement.]

Thea, Oliver? What happened?

The last thing I remember was Ra's tossing the virus vial and falling asleep and then I was here. If this is some sort of joke it isn't funny.

[The man looks around his expression becoming colder the more he views his new situation.]

The world is ending and I need to get back home now. I have no patience for games.

Third-Person Log Sample:

Malcolm knew he wouldn't leave Nanda alive, but he never dreamed Ra's would make him suffer through a hell like this first. The coals beneath him had a grate between them and his skin, but to Malcolm it felt like the coals were burning right against his skin. He glared at Ra's tying to communicate his utter contempt and hatred for the man who had taken him in and honed his grief into something lethal.

But Malcolm's sense of justice had been skewed since he'd first listened to his wife's voice mail and learned she had died while others had ignored her cries for help. There was no honor in a situation like that and nothing the League taught him had changed his way of thinking for the better.  He had tried to learn, tried to expand his world view and find honor in killing others, but all he could hear was Rebecca begging him for help, begging him to make the city better for her, so that no one else would suffer the way she had.

"Are you expecting me to beg," Malcolm rasped a note of amusement in his voice despite being in the worst pain of his life, "we both know I'll die before that ever happens." Ra's chuckled and shook his head. "Still trying to talk yourself out of a bad situation," the Demon's Head replied, "there was a time when I would have enjoyed letting you do that."

Ra's picked up a pair of tongs and pulled out one of the coals. "But now you have pushed me much too far and I must make an example of you." He leaned forward and Malcolm flinched as the heat touched his skin. He took a deep breath and focused on anything but the burning smell of his feet and face. While he knew he would die far from home with most of his family lost to him, Malcolm was determined to die with his own emotionless form of dignity.

Rebecca would expect nothing less from him.

Once he understands what he is there for, Malcolm will do everything he can to repay his debt in the hope that he can return to Thea with a clean slate and a second chance. He will also enjoy meeting new people and making friends who might understand how painful loss is and how it can affect your life.

Powers/Abilities:

Canon: Anytime Malcolm appears in an Arrow episode it will be added to his background. All posts will have a spoiler warning for a week after the episode airs.

AU: Malcolm is the Arrow not Oliver and protects the city with his whole heart

Three in Love: After Arrow season one Malcolm fled Starling and met Mercy Thompson and Jack Harkness. They saw his pain and welcomed him into their home and their hearts. It's an odd relationship but it's love.

Once Upon A Time AU: Malcolm Meryln is the human name of the Trickster found in many tales. In Fairy Tale Land he was a shapesifter known by many names. Raven, Coyote, Renard. Make a deal with him and it won't be boring but remember magic has it's price and even Monkey is willing to to work for the highest bidder.

Nexus: Malcolm Meryln is the alias of Robert Winchester, grandson to Dean Winchester. Hunting is in his blood and now he's been dumped on an alien island and forced to confront his past and his future all in the same breath. He may have become the villain but his family isn't about to let him stay that way.
