Starling City was quiet and that unsettled the man known as the Archer, or the Arrow or whatever the newspapers were calling him this week. Malcolm didn't frankly care about the publicity. All he cared about was was cleansing the poison from the city that had taken his wife from him and forced Malcolm himself to seek out refuge halfway around the world when he realized that he didn't have the training to do this alone. He'd returned after ten years to a son who barely knew him, friends who had accepted Starling the way it was and a populace that was beyond apathetic.

A lesser man would have given up, or at the worst found a way to burn the city down to the ground and start over. But Malcolm was bound to an oath that could kill both himself and his family if he broke it, so he had to cleanse this place one criminal at a time.  He was about to leap off the roof where he was settled when a noise behind him made him spin, his loaded bow snapping up ready to fire the second he scented danger. "Show yourself," he growled, the voice changer in his hood making his voice deep and rough, "or this arrow will enter your eye before you can even blink."

Sara had returned to the League of Assassins, much to the happiness of Nyssa who had presented her to Ra’s Al Ghul. Joining the League was a lifelong oath that could not be broken, even in death and although Sara had gained her freedom once, now it was no more. As punishment for leaving the first time, Ra’s Al Ghul saw fit to sentence Sara to serve a former league member, Malcolm Merlyn until such time that he felt she had earned the right to come home. Of course Nyssa wasn’t happy about this. She was convinced her father was punishing both her and Sara for the fact they fell in love. But his word was law and Sara did what she was told.

Whatever the reason, keeping Nyssa and her apart Sara returned to Starling City and left the league behind her in search of Malcolm. Reluctant to take orders from him she finally tracked down his movements to one of the rooftops gaining a decent advantage of the city below. He wasn’t exactly an easy man to find.

Slowly stepping out from behind a wall there was a crackle stones beneath her feet that tipped Malcolm off to her presence. Before Sara could even draw a breath the bow was aimed directly at her, although she displayed no fear. Not even the slightest of movement. “You know who I am.” She barely took a few steps closer. “I’ve been sent to find you. I think it’s time we talked.” She didn’t know if word had already reached Malcolm of her punishment, or even if he knew that she left and had to return. Whatever his knowledge Sara would fill in the blanks.

“This isn’t easy so I’d be grateful if you dropped the bow.”

“I’m sure I can give you a list of reasons but the main and to cut a long story short is I took a leaf out of your book and left, then something bad happened and I traded myself to return to the league in order for some help saving the city and my family in it.” Sara’s posture changed when she mentioned her family, it was hard enough having them see her leave to return to the league but to be back in the city without being able to tell them tore her apart. Maybe that’s what Ra’s wanted.

Stiffening up she took a deep breath and folded her arms, “I don’t like this any more than you do but until I’m told otherwise I’m to work with you.” She wondered if he’d pick up on the fact she said with and not for. If Sara was to be put in this position for the foreseeable future, then she’d like to place more on the emphasis on with. “I know you don’t exactly have the best relationship with Nyssa and some of the league but working together, maybe it’ll change.”

She was trying to make a valid point that no one no matter how good they are, is able to take on the world alone. “One day you might need a favor.” She smirked, completely ignoring the fact Malcolm hadn’t disarmed his bow and walking up to stand beside him. She was curious if anything was happening down below on the streets.

“So what is it you are looking for?” She asked more out of curiosity as she didn’t know much about Malcolm other than what people have told her. When it comes to how Laurel painted a picture of him it wasn’t exactly colorful. Sara honestly didn’t know if his intentions were good or bad in the city but the only way to find out was to tag along.

No matter what people might say about Malcolm, at least he was straight to the point. Sara thankfully didn’t have to argue that she was stuck with him for the time being, he simply accepted it. As she perched on the side of the rooftop watching below, she noticed several armed men around a derelict warehouse. This was the quieter part of the city, still partly under construction from the havoc Slade had caused but the fact a warehouse so rundown was being guarded, begged the question what was it hiding. Still, she watched the man Malcolm had his eyes upon walk through one of the side doors and vanish inside.

“What’s your policy on killing?” Sara questioned, not taking her eyes off of the men vanishing in between the trucks around the front. She ignored the little dig to Oliver but still noted it while she waited for Malcolm’s response. “I’m not good at taking prisoners.”

That is all Sara needed to hear. Although it ripped a part of her away every time she took a life, the thought of resisting and fighting to break away from the league was now gone. She had to embrace what and who she was now as it was the deal she had made. “Then what are we waiting for.” She jumped off the edge of the building, using her urban surrounds to land silently on the ground. There was a thought on how Malcolm would have wanted to play this. If it was Oliver no doubt he’d be circling the rooftops and trying to clear a path but Malcolm was a whole different ball game, and also unpredictable. Something Sara hoped working together she would soon come to figure out as it sometimes paid to have one another’s backs.

The first guard was positioned between two trucks that were in the process of being unloaded, although the staff weren’t anywhere to be seen. Sara had no trouble sneaking past the front of the vehicle and flawlessly snapping the guards neck. He dropped almost like a rag doll as she caught the weight in an attempt to silence what had just happened. The second was to the slide of the loading doors. He was harder to get as he positioned himself right in the light coming from one of the high up warehouse windows.

“Same old, all clear.” He muttered into his collar. Sara then realized that if the first guy she took down was also wired and due to check in, they would soon have a problem. She needed to act fast.

Without the time to hide and sneak attack every guard she saw, she did a bold move and closed the few meters from the back of the truck to the doors in less than a few seconds. The guard noticed her but in the time it took for him to raise his rifle Sara had smacked it out his head with her staff. The angry that shot across his face fueled him as he lunged for her, fists clenched. He barely had a chance to get near when she spun the staff into his legs with an auditable crack which echoed against the second blow to his skull.

Rather than taking care of the rest around the building, she slipped into the loading dock and headed through a door just to the inside. It was probably one of many ways to break into the warehouse but at least this way was fast and less complicated that guns blazing through the front.
